This oval tobacco box has an engraved depiction of the wedding at Cana on the lid. The underside is engraved with a depiction of King Ahab in Nabot's vineyard.
The edges of the lid and base are decorated with a pattern of cut acanthus leaves with a zigzag border underneath. The attachment of the hinge is formed by a scalloped strip.
Hallmarked on the inside with the city hallmark of Amsterdam, the date letter A for 1735 attached and the makers' mark a three-leaf clover for Jacobus Das. The makers' mark is also stamped into the lid.
